The founding
of today's Arcus Consulting LLP can be traced back to the early 1970s
when Christopher Hogben & Associates and Smith Barritt Associates were
formed.
The former practice was in Manchester and the latter in Burnham, and when
both Partnerships agreed to merge in 1980 they became Hogben Smith Barritt
(subsequently known as the 'HSB Partnership').
Over the following 8 years the HSB Partnership grew by over 800%, gained an additional 12 offices and put on another 125 staff.
1992 saw a split, as both the Northern and Southern halves of HSB Partnership bought themselves out of the National Practice and began trading independently.
The new Practice became known as 'HSB Partnership North' and began business
with a solid base of satisfied clients and a turnover of £750,000.
1997 was the year that 'Arcus' was born; the Latin word for a weapon, used for defence or attack.
It has been subsequently proven that Arcus has lived up to its name, winning new business for its zeal, expertise and flair for innovation.
Today Arcus stands with main offices located across the north of England, a portfolio of national clients and a turnover in excess of £2.5m.
Following a major internal restructuring process, involving the change to a Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) on the 1st June 2003, Arcus looks to be in even better shape for the future.
